The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, is receiving proposals from eligible universities, academic institutes, research organizations, and medical/agricultural institutions for the establishment or up-gradation of Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Centers under the BIO-GRID.
Funding up to ₹5 crore is available for a duration of five years. This initiative aims to support advanced research and training in life sciences, biotechnology, and health.
The primary aim of this call is to support cutting-edge computational biology research by establishing or upgrading state-of-the-art Bioinformatics Centers (BICs).
The Core activities of the center are:
- Developing and applying computational tools for high-throughput data analysis.
- Database Development.
- Proposals must clearly define the contribution of each investigator and institution.
- Capacity building through courses, workshops, student supervision, and educational programme development at multiple levels.
- Outreach Activities.
- Support Services.
This call is open to all Eligible Researchers. Eligible candidates may submit their research proposals online via the DBT eProMIS portal by 31 January 2026.

Eligibility
An Indian National holding a regular position in any Indian academic and research institutions (Govt./Private) is eligible for Govt. funding.
There should be at least one co-investigator from each participating institute.
Each institution may host only one Bioinformatics Centre (BIC).
The Coordinator must be from the field of Bioinformatics/Computational Biology.
