Stipend/ Fellowship/ Scholarship during PhD

The minimum amount you get while doing PhD is Rupees 12000 per month and the maximum is Rupees 80000 per month. It depends on from where you are doing your PhD. For instance, you may get good amount, if you do your PhD for renowned institutes like IITs, IISc, NITs etc. It also depends on whether you are NET JRF qualified? JRF Qualified candidate get a fellowship of Rupees 35000 per month while doing PhD.

Admission Procedure for PhD

Students have to appear for an entrance examination followed by an interview. Only candidates who cleared the entrance exam will be called for the interview. In interview, students have to discuss their research plan with the panel. The research plan includes a research topic, research problem in the research topic and a suitable methodology (solution) for the research problem.

Entrance exam syllabus for PhD in computer science

The entrance exam is conducted by every university which is followed by an Interview. However, in various universities, candidates having UGC NET certificate are exempted from the entrance exam.

The syllabus of the exam is divided into two parts:

  1. The First part covers the general knowledge.
  2. The Second part is subject specific.

Salary after PhD

You can expect a minimum salary of Rupees 50000 after PhD. After doing PhD in Computer Science, you can work either in Academics or in Industries. You will be posted as an Assistant Professor in colleges or Universities.
