All about UGC NET

The UGC NET is a national level eligibility test for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor or Both, in Indian Universities and Colleges. The UGC NET will consist of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both of the papers are of Objective types and there is no negative marking. There is no break between paper 1 and paper 2.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for UGC NET

General/ Unreserved/ General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC. 

The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Transgender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test. 

Moreover, Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/ eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination. Such candidates must complete their Master degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.


AGE LIMIT AND RELAXATION for UGC NET

 For Assistant Professor:

There is no upper age limit.

For JRF:

Not more than 30 years. A relaxation of 5 years is provided to reserved categories candidates.

Can I submit the UGC NET form in offline mode? 

Candidates can apply for UGC NET 2020 in online mode only. The application form in another mode is not acceptable.

What is the total duration of examination? 

The total duration is 3 hours. 1 hour for first paper and 2 hours for second paper.

Is there any break between Paper 1 and Paper 2 of UGC NET? 

There is no break between Paper 1 and Paper 2.

What is timing of examination in? 

First Shift: 09:30 am to 13:30 pm. Second Shift: 02:30 pm to 05:30 pm

Can I submit more than one application form of UGC NET?

 No. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate.


Do I need to have an email address or a phone number?

 Every candidate need to provide a valid phone number and an email address. Information related to application form will be sent to the candidate through the SMS on mobile number and email address.
