Call for Proposals for Preservation and Development of Himalayan Cultural Heritage

The North East Zone Cultural Centre under the Ministry of Culture is receiving research proposals from researchers under the “Scheme for Financial Assistance for Preservation and Development of Cultural Heritage of the Himalayas”.

The application deadline, which was earlier extended to April 15, 2026, has now been further extended till May 31, 2026.

About the Scheme

The scheme aims to promote, protect, and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Himalayan region through:

  • Research and documentation
  • Preservation of manuscripts, literature, arts, and crafts
  • Audio-visual dissemination of art and culture
  • Training in traditional and folk arts

The scheme covers the following Himalayan regions:

  • UT of Jammu & Kashmir
  • UT of Ladakh
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Uttarakhand
  • Sikkim
  • Arunachal Pradesh

Who Can Apply?

Applications are invited from institutions and registered voluntary organizations. Individual research scholars are also eligible.

Research scholars must forward applications through their colleges/universities and the UGC.

Financial Assistance

Eligible organizations can receive financial assistance of up to ₹10 lakh per project for activities such as:
