The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) are receiving research proposals under the Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme (ISJRP).
This bilateral initiative supports collaborative social science research between Switzerland and India. The ISJRP is constituted to strengthen long-term academic collaboration.
This call is open to all the eligible research institutions in India and Switzerland. Proposals are to be jointly prepared by the Swiss and Indian applicants. Interested Researchers can submit proposals via the SNSF Portal before 8 April 2026.

Research Themes
The proposed topics in the field of social sciences are the following:
- Digital governance, AI ethics, and the social impact of AI
- Inequality, justice, inclusion
- Mobility and social integration
- Economic transformation
Eligibility
- The Joint Research Projects (JRP) call is open to researchers from all eligible research institutions in Switzerland and India.
- Each proposal must have at least one applicant based in Switzerland and one applicant based in
India. - Applicant must hold a PhD and be employed in a recognized Institution.
- Each applicant can submit only one proposal.
Submission Rules
Proposals must be written only in the English language. Each proposal must have one Principal Investigator from India and one Principal Investigator from Switzerland. Proposals must be submitted online only via the SNSF Portal. Hard copies are not accepted.
The Indian participant(s) must submit the complete proposal (same as submitted on the SNSF Portal) as one single consolidated PDF file, at the latest within seven working days after the deadline of the call by email ([email protected], [email protected]).
In addition, one hardcopy of the research proposal submitted to the SNSF Portal should be sent to ICSSR
by Speed Post at the following address.
