The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, in collaboration with BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council), is receiving research Proposals on “Bio-AI” under the BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment & Employment) Policy.
This call aims to foster high-performance biomanufacturing by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) with biotechnology and enabling data-driven innovation across health, agriculture, and environmental sectors.
Interested organizations can submit research proposals online by 30th June, 2026.
The program seeks to generate scalable solutions with high societal and industrial impact by combining AI, machine learning, and advanced biotechnological research.

Who Can Apply?
The call is open to the following eligible entities:
- Companies registered under the Companies Act, 2013
- Startups
- Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) under the LLP Act, 2008
- Academic institutions, universities, societies, trusts, NGOs, foundations, and voluntary organizations
- Organizations recognized as Scientific and Industrial Research Organizations (SIRO)
Step-by-Step Submission Process
Proposals must be submitted online only by signing up on the BIRAC website. No hard copy of the proposal is required.
Existing Users have to log in using their registered credentials.
After login, select the relevant scheme/program and click “Submit New Proposal” or access Pending/Submitted Proposals
Fill in or edit the proposal under the selected Call Title
Submit the proposal by clicking “Final Submit.”
