The Matsumae International Foundation has officially announced its Research Fellowship Program 2027 for international researchers. The prestigious fellowship offers an opportunity for researchers from around the world to conduct research in Japan for six months with financial support.
The fellowship mainly supports research in the following fields:
- Natural Sciences
- Engineering
- Medicine
- Agriculture
Selected fellows will stay in Japan for a period of six months between June 2027 and March 2028.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill all of the following requirements:
- Must be a non-Japanese citizen
- Must hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of application
- Must be 45 years old or younger
- Must have a full-time position in their home country
- Must secure acceptance from a Japanese host institution before applying
- Must possess sufficient English or Japanese language proficiency
- Applicants should not have previous long-term experience in Japan
Candidates are required to independently contact and obtain acceptance from a Japanese host professor or institution before submitting the application.
