The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has announced the Call for Applications under the Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-orientation (BioCARe) Programme for Women Researchers for 2026-27.
The call was announced on 25 August 2026. The last date for submission of applications is 23 September 2026.
The programme aims to enhance the participation of women researchers and support their career development in Biotechnology and related research areas.
Eligibility
The BioCARe fellowship is open to Unemployed Indian women up to 55 years of age.
Applicants may apply under the following categories:
- Category I: Women researchers who have completed a Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, allied areas, interdisciplinary sciences, or have an MD, MDS, or M.V.Sc. degree.
- Category II: Women researchers who have completed an M.Tech. in Biotechnology or allied areas, M.Pharma, or an equivalent degree.

- Animal and Marine Biotechnology or allied areas
- Bioengineering and Biomaterials or allied areas
- Medical Biotechnology or allied areas
- Environmental Biotechnology and Bioenergy or allied areas
- Plant and Agriculture Biotechnology or allied areas

Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the Common Fellowship Portal of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
