EMBO is receiving applications from Early-Career Scientists for Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026.
It is one of the most respected fellowship programs supporting outstanding life science researchers worldwide. The fellowship provides funding for up to two years to conduct research in leading laboratories across Europe and beyond.
Interested candidates can submit their applications online by 10 July 2026.

Fellowship Benefits

Eligibility Criteria
The applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree within the previous two years. They must have at least one first-author research article accepted or published in an international peer-reviewed journal.
Applications will not be considered if the fellowship is planned in the country where the PhD was obtained.
Moreover, the applicant can’t return to a laboratory where they previously worked for more than six months.

Selection Process
The selection process consists of several stages:
- Eligibility Review.
- Pre-Screening: Approximately 25% of applicants are shortlisted for interviews.
- Interview Stage: Shortlisted candidates participate in a remote video interview.
- Final Evaluation: Final funding decisions are made by the Fellowship Committee.
