The ARG–MATRICS (Mathematical Research Impact-Centric Support) program under the ANRF Advanced Research Grant (ARG) has officially opened its 2026 call for proposals.
The ARG-MATRICS scheme is designed to support active researchers with strong academic credentials in mathematics, theoretical sciences, and quantitative social sciences.
Interested researchers can submit their research proposals by June 10, 2026.

Scope
MATRICS aims to provide fixed grant support to researchers working in:
- Mathematical Sciences (MS): Mathematical and allied areas.
- Theoretical Sciences (TS): All areas of Science and Engineering (other than mathematical and allied areas).
- Quantitative Social Sciences (QSS): Quantitative Social Sciences that involve quantitative analysis using mathematical, statistical, or computational techniques in the Social Sciences.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a position in Public/private universities, or National research labs, or recognized research organizations in India.
The applicant should be an active researcher in the field of Mathematical Sciences or Science & Engineering (excluding mathematics) or Quantitative Social Sciences.
An applicant can submit only one proposal.
No Co-PI is allowed in this program.

Steps:
- Register on the portal
- Complete profile (bio-data, institute details, photo, etc.)
- Fill proposal details:
- Project Title (max 500 characters)
- Keywords (max 6)
- Project Summary (max 3000 characters)
- Subject classification (for MATRICS)
Required Documents
- Bio-data (as per template)
- 1–2 page project proposal
- Top 10 significant publications
- All publications (last 5 years)
- PI certificate
- Endorsement letter from Head of Institution
- Plagiarism undertaking
Selection Process
Research Proposals will be evaluated by an Expert Committee based on:
- Mathematical/Theoretical strength of the proposal
- Principal Investigator’s credentials
- Publication record
