The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has announced the latest INSPIRE Fellowship under the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Scheme.
This fellowship supports talented students in science and related fields to pursue doctoral (PhD) research in India.
The program aims to attract meritorious students into research careers in basic and applied sciences, including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary sciences, and pharmacy.
Eligible candidates can submit their applications online by 23 May 2026.

About INSPIRE Fellowship
The INSPIRE Fellowship supports students who wish to pursue a full-time PhD in recognized universities and institutions across India.
- The fellowship is equivalent to a NET-qualified fellowship.
- It covers both basic and applied sciences
- It supports candidates after a Bachelor’s (4 years) or a Master’s degree

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be Indian citizens and fall under one of the following categories:
1. First Rank Holders (PG Level)
- First rank in Postgraduate degree (basic/applied sciences)
- Minimum 70% marks
- The batch size must be at least 7 students
2. INSPIRE Scholars (PG Level)
- Minimum 70% marks in M.Sc. or Integrated M.S./M.Sc.
3. First Rank Holders (UG Level)
- First rank in B.Sc./B.Tech./B.E./MBBS/B.V.Sc. etc.
- Minimum 75% marks
- The batch size must be at least 7 students
4. INSPIRE Scholars (UG Level)
- Minimum 75% marks in 4-year degree programs
