The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) has announced a major research initiative titled: MAHA Drones: Components & Sub-Assemblies Research & Innovation Program.
This ANRF program is launched in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and
Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).
This research program aims to establish national capability in foundational drone technologies and transition India from an assembly-driven ecosystem to an innovation-driven, component-secure ecosystem.
Eligible and interested researchers can submit their research proposals by 26 May 2026.

Proposals must include at least one industry/startup partner.
Proposal Process
The proposal submission process follows a two-stage approach. In Stage 1 (Pre Proposal), candidates have to submit a short concept note that outlines the core idea of the project. Applicants who are shortlisted from this stage will be invited to proceed to Stage 2 (Full Proposal Submission).
In Stage 2, candidates must submit a comprehensive proposal that includes detailed technical methodology, financial planning, and implementation strategy.
