Call for Proposals for DBT, ICMR & SNSF Joint Research Projects 2026

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) have officially launched the Joint Research Projects (JRP) Call 2026 under the Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme (ISJRP).

The initiative supports collaborative research between India and Switzerland.

The notification is officially released on 2 Feb, 2026. Interested Researchers can submit their research proposals through the SNSF Portal by 5 May 2026.

About Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme (ISJRP)

The Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme (ISJRP) was initiated by the Indian and Swiss governments to strengthen scientific collaboration between researchers from both countries.

This call is jointly funded by:

  • Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)
  • Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India
  • Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
  • Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI)

Research Focus

The call invites interdisciplinary research proposals addressing health challenges through a One Health perspective. Eligible Research Topics Include:

  • Climate change impacts on health
  • Disease pathogen research
  • Zoonotic diseases and spillover dynamics
  • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) diagnostics
  • Medical devices addressing One Health challenges
  • Technology-enabled surveillance systems
  • Development of alternatives to antibiotics
  • Vector-borne diseases
  • Host-pathogen interaction studies
  • Environmental and ecosystem health

Eligibility Criteria

Researchers from research institutions in Switzerland and India are eligible to apply. Each proposal must have at least one applicant based in Switzerland and one applicant based in India.

Each applicant can submit only one proposal.

Evaluation Process

Proposals will undergo a rigorous review process, including:

  1. International peer review
  2. Evaluation panel ranking
  3. Final selection by SNSF, DBT, and ICMR
