India Science and Research Fellowship Programme (ISRF) 2026 – DST

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, is receiving research proposals for the India Science and Research Fellowship (ISRF) Programme 2025–2026.

This prestigious international fellowship aims to strengthen scientific collaboration between India and its neighbouring countries by supporting short-term research visits to India.

The last date for proposal submission is 31 March 2026.

About India Science and Research Fellowship (ISRF)

The ISRF Programme motivate researchers of selected neighbouring countries to conduct high-quality research at Indian research laboratories / academic institutions.

The programme is fully funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, and implemented through the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).

Researchers from the following countries are eligible:

  • Afghanistan
  • Bangladesh
  • Bhutan
  • Maldives
  • Myanmar
  • Nepal
  • Sri Lanka
  • Thailand

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Citizen or permanent resident of an eligible country (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand)
  • Actively engaged in research at a university or research institution
  • Applicant must possess a PhD. / M.Tech / M.Sc / MBBS with 3–5 years of research or teaching experience. PhD scholars registered in the home country may also apply
  • An applicant shall below 45 years of age
  • He/ she must hold a valid passport
  • Fellowship can be availed of only once every five years

Documents Required for Application

The completed application form must be forwarded by the appropriate authority of the home institution along with the following documents:

  1. A brief write-up of the proposed research work
  2. Copy of the highest degree certificate
  3. Reprints of two recent refereed journal publications
  4. Copy of a valid passport
  5. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the home institution
  6. Letter of Acceptance from the Indian host supervisor
  7. Two passport-size photographs
  8. Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
