MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) premier bibliographic database that contains more than 29 million references to journal articles in life sciences with a concentration on biomedicine.
MEDLINE is an important resource from the National Library of Medicine. All research journals indexed in MEDLINE are peer-reviewed.

Researchers make sure that the button “Journals currently indexed in MEDLINE” on the left side is selected. You can see there are 5280 Medline indexed journals shown in the search results.
Steps to check if a journal is indexed in Medline
Similarly the same URL: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog can be used to check if a journal is indexing in the Medline.
- Type the journal title or ISSN on the search box and click on the search button.
- The journal details will be shown if it is in the National Library of Medicine (NLM) catalog.
- Check the “Current indexing status.” Indexed journal shows “Currently indexed for MEDLINE”
