Google Launches Deep Review: Researchers Can Get Two Free AI Document Reviews Every Week

Google has launched a new tool for researchers named Deep Review. Deep Review is an AI-powered tool designed to help researchers review research papers, check technical details, and identify possible mistakes before submitting their work for publication.

The tool was announced on October 14, 2026, and is now publicly available. The tool is built on Google’s earlier Paper Assistant Tool, which was tested through collaborations with major computer science conferences. According to Google, the earlier system provided feedback on more than 16,000 research paper submissions.

What Is Google Deep Review?

Deep Review is an AI tool that examines complex documents and provides detailed feedback. It was initially developed to help researchers check academic papers, but its capabilities have expanded to cover other professional documents.

Key Features of Deep Review

Google Deep Review offers several features that may help researchers improve their work.

1. Checks logical errors

The tool examines the reasoning presented in a document and can highlight possible gaps, contradictions, or unsupported conclusions.

2. Reviews mathematical statements

It can scrutinise mathematical arguments and statements to help authors identify issues that may need further verification.

3. Checks facts and supporting evidence

Deep Review can examine claims and look for supporting evidence. It will help researchers assess whether important statements are adequately grounded.

4. Suggests improvements

The tool provides detailed feedback that authors can use to improve the clarity, consistency, and quality of their manuscripts.

5. Reviews technical documents beyond research papers

Deep Review can also be used to examine documents such as technical reports, design documents, presentations, and certain legal and financial documents.

What About Privacy?

Google states that documents uploaded to Deep Review are not used to train, fine-tune, or improve its AI models. However, uploaded documents are stored for one year so users can access them through the Deep Review interface.
