Assistant Professor: The Assistant Professor post is a Gazetted Post. There are two phases in which a candidate has to go through in order to become an Assistant Professor. The first phase is to qualify for the UGC NET exam followed by the second phase that is the interview process. However, the candidates who are PhD are exempted from the UGC NET.

Salary for Contractual post: If a candidate is having only master degree, he is known as Teaching Assistant and will get the salary around Rupees 25000 per month.
If a candidate is UGC NET qualified or having a PhD degree, he is known as Lecturer and get the remuneration around rupees 35000 per month.
How to get the contractual job in colleges or universities?
Usually these posts gets filled twice a year in the months of June and December in both government and private institutions.

Eligibility for Permanent post: Master Degree + UGC NET (or PhD).
Salary for Permanent post: Around Rupees 70000 per month.

- Fill up the form for the institution when they start recruitment. You can get the list of all institutions sorted by states from here.
- You will be called for the interview.
- Selection list will be declared. Note: The process for the permanent jobs takes long time. It depends from one university to another.
